SOLAR CAR

OMG—Obafemi Awolowo University Student Build Solar Powered Car
Like I have always said, Nigerian students are no dull brains, they are only handicapped by the non-working atmosphere and condition created for them. Here is a solar-powered vehicle built by Oyeyiola Segun, a Part 5 student of the Electronic and Electrical Department of Obafemi Awolowo University.
In an exclusive interview by OAU Peeps Forum, he explained how the car came into existence and the motivations behind it.
OAU Peeps: Can we meet you sir?
Segun: Okay, I am Oyeyiola Segun, a part 5 student of Elect-Elect., OAU
OAU Peeps: We learnt you built this lovely car. Was it a joint project or you did it yourself?
Segun: I did it only. This is not a day’s job, I have been working on it for some months now.
OAU Peeps: So how does the car work?
Segun: Basically it depends on Wind and Solar energy. All the energy derived for these two sources were converted to run the simple car. There are different means of obtaining energy from these two sources but I picked the one that is cool for my car.
OAU Peeps: From what you just said, you can either use the Wind or Solar Energy to power the car’s engine?
Segun: Not either energy, rather both energies are used to power the car.
OAU Peeps: Cool… that differentiates your production from the usual vehicles we see around us I suppose?
Segun: Yes, you are very correct.
OAU Peeps: Could you share with us what actually provoked your innovation? I mean what you thought before coming up with this lovely engine?
Segun: Basically, it is because of the climate change we experience due to the combustion of fuel and you know
cars also contribute to that change. So I thought of running a car that will not use fuel for its locomotion. After series of thinking and research work, I came up
with the simple method that gave birth to this. So that is the basic reason for the car. Another concern of mine is to produce a car that will function effectively at a reduced cost of maintenance. I believe you know the price of fuel in this country is almost going beyond the reach of a common man?
OAU Peeps: Yes, you are right. Is there any other peculiarity of the car that you will like to share apart from the once you have mentioned?
Segun: Of course yes. Another thing that distinguishes my car from the common ones you see around is that you can know the state of the car through your mobile phones. I wrote a software that you can install which will give you the basic information about the car while
in your room.
OAU Peeps: What do you mean by the State of the car?
Segun: I mean the functionality of the car, like the battery level, the weather conditions, the distance you can cover during different weather conditions. In case you have a bad weather. The car also has a GPS in it that helps to know the location of the car. These and many other features embedded in it.
OAU Peeps: Wow! this is very lovely. Do you have plans replicating this nice work in the future?
Segun: The work has come to stay, but I need to keep improving it for now.
OAU Peeps: It took you how many years to put this together?
Segun: That your question can be phased into two categories, do you mean mentally or physically?
OAU Peeps: Lol… you are right. Let us talk about the Physical aspect of it now.
Segun: Okay. We all know how our country is, I mean to get money is not easy but I pray that God will make it
easy for everyone of us. The truth is, I cannot really say how long because I started using my personal little money to get the materials together. Let me just say about twelve(12) months.
OAU Peeps: Did you encounter any major challenge during this project?
Segun: Yes, Money. Even at the moment, I still need funds to get some others materials which are in my original paper design which I have not implemented on
the car.
OAU Peeps: What will be the summarized cost of this car when fully ready?
Segun: There are lots of things that will lead to summary cost of production, so for now I cannot specifically state the cost but with all the materials that
I will be needing since I am not producing in large quantities, its close to a million naira. Now quantifying my effect and others on foreseen cases.
OAU Peeps: Finally, your message to fellow Nigerian students?
Segun: My message to my fellow students is that Rome was not built in a day. It is better to start anything you
want to do now and don’t never, I repeat, never expect someone to believe in your dreams because they may not understand it as you do. Endeavor to follow your heart and do what will make you happy and that which will not affect your fellow being negatively. May God help and bless us all.
OAU Peeps: Amen. Thank you so much Engineer, we are indeed proud of you.
Segun: You are welcome and May God help OAU Peeps Forum too.

China seizes $14.5bn of ex-official assets

Chinese authorities have seized assets worth at least $14.5bn from family members and associates of retired domestic security chief Zhou Yongkang, who is at the centre of China’s biggest corruption scandal in more than six decades, according to Reuters news agency.
More than 300 of Zhou’s relatives, political allies, proteges and staff have also been taken into custody or questioned in the past four months, sources, who have been briefed on the investigation, told Reuters.
The sheer size of the asset seizures and the scale of the investigations into the people around Zhou – both unreported until now – make the probe unprecedented in modern China and would appear to show that President Xi Jinping is tackling corruption at the highest levels.
But it may also be driven partly by political payback after Zhou angered leaders such as Xi by opposing the ouster of former high-flying politician Bo Xilai, who was jailed for life in September for corruption and abuse of power.
Zhou, 71, has been under virtual house arrest since authorities began formally investigating him late last year.
He is the most senior Chinese politician to be ensnared in a corruption investigation since the Communist Party swept to power in 1949.
“It’s the ugliest in the history of the new China,” said one of the sources, who has ties to the leadership, requesting anonymity to avoid repercussions for speaking to the foreign media about elite politics.
The government has yet to make any official statement about Zhou or the case against him and it has not been possible to contact Zhou, his family, associates or staff for comment. It is not clear if any of them have lawyers.
‘Persecution’ claim
The party’s anti-corruption watchdog and the prosecutor’s office did not respond to requests for comment.
Xi ordered a task force formed in late November or early December to look into accusations against Zhou, sources have previously told Reuters. They have not said what the allegations were except that they were related to violating party discipline, official jargon for corruption.
A third source with ties to the leadership said Zhou had refused to cooperate with investigators, insisting he was the victim of a power struggle.
“Zhou Yongkang is tough and claims it’s political persecution,” the source said.
Zhou rose through the ranks of China’s oil and gas sector before joining the elite Politburo Standing Committee in 2007, where as domestic security chief his budget exceeded defence spending. He retired in 2012 and was last seen at an alumni event at the China University of Petroleum on October 1.
The first two sources said prosecutors and the party’s anti-corruption watchdog had frozen bank accounts with deposits totalling $5.9bn and seized domestic and overseas bonds with a combined value of $8.2bn after raiding homes in Beijing, Shanghai and five provinces.
Investigators had also confiscated about 300 apartments and villas worth around $274 million, antiques and contemporary paintings with a market value of $161 million and more than 60 vehicles, the sources said. Other items seized included expensive liquor, gold, silver and cash in local and foreign currencies.
The seized assets belonged to those in custody, the sources said, without saying how many people in total had been detained compared to those just questioned. Most of the assets were not in Zhou’s name, they added.
According to the sources, the seized assets had a combined value of at least $14.5bn, although it was unclear what share of that total was ill-gotten and would be turned over to the state.
Such asset seizures, while large, are not uncommon in China, where excess has often been revealed from graft probes in recent years.

Heavy security in Aso Rock as gunmen storm SSS office

Gunmen
Security was quickly beefed up around the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Sunday morning as heavy shootings were recorded at the neighbouring headquarters of the State Security Service known as Yellow House.
The SSS headquarters is located behind the Villa.
The access gate to the seat of power through the Fire Service office in Asokoro was quickly shut while more heavily armed soldiers were seen at the gate leading to the Villa through the Federal Secretariat.
Military helicopters were also seen hovering the sky at the time of filing this report.
Our correspondent who attempted to access the SSS headquarters area through the Aso Drive was turned back alongside other motorists in front of the Millennium Park by armed SSS operatives.
An operative who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that trouble started earlier in the day when one of the suspects in the service’s custody overpowered an operative who was in his cell to feed him.
The suspect was said to have shot the operative with his own rifle and went ahead to release his co-suspects.
The source said, “An operative went to feed a suspect this morning. The suspect was not properly chained, so he pushed down the operative and quickly dispossessed him of his rifle and shot him.
“He quickly released his co-inmates who started escaping with some scaling the fence.”
The incident led to a gun battle between the suspects and the SSS operatives.
Our correspondent learnt that in the process, no fewer than 18 suspects were killed while about 20 were re-arrested with two rifle recovered from them.
Two SSS operatives were also said to have been critically injured.
At the time of filing this report, security operatives were still combing the thick bush that surrounds the headquarters in search of remaining fleeing suspects who were said to have scaled the fence.
As the news of the incident spread, security was also quickly beefed up at the Nigeria Police Forceheadquarters called the Louis Edet House located in Area 11, not too far from the Presidential Villa.

An Armoured Personnel Carrier was used to completely block a lane on the road leading to Federal Secretariat with motorists driving one way.

They beat some to death — Nafiu, victim

Nafiu Shittu
What is your name?
Nafiu Shittu
Where do you come from?
I am from Isale-Osun, Osogbo. I live in the Foko area of Ibadan city.
Are you married?
No.
When and how were you kidnapped?
I was kidnapped seven months ago in Ibadan. Some men dragged me into a vehicle. I only remember that I later saw myself chained to the wall in a room. I was held there all alone.
What were you eating in the forest?
I was rarely fed. There were two men who brought food every four days. It was food meant for sacrifice – rice and palm oil. But I couldn’t eat the food, so I drank only water.
Can you describe the people who held you?
The men were hefty and were always smoking in the place. I remember there were two of them. I don’t remember ever seeing a woman among them. On the day we were rescued, there was a lot of noise coming from outside. Before I knew it, some youths broke in, freed me and others who had been held captive.
Do you recall seeing other people there?
Yes. I was not the only one in the place. Everyday, they brought new people there and beat them.  I heard cries from other rooms daily. I don’t know if they were killed later, but I often saw dead bodies taken out.
Where were you kept and how was the condition of the place?
I was kept in a small room without a roof. I was isolated. I was chained throughout the duration I was held captive. And whenever it rained, it drenched me.  There were many rooms there.

A MUST READ: 10 Ways To Know An Immature Guy

lovessss
So many reasons have been adduced for why romantic relationships between a guy and a gal don’t end up in marriage these days. One of them is Incompatibility!
For this reason, here is a list of tips on how you could get to know if a guy or that guy you are in a relationship with is immature:
1. You’re his first real relationship: He had a girlfriend or two in high school, but has not dated since. If you’re his first girlfriend in the “real world” you’re probably going to have to teach him a few basics. The only thing he has to compare this relationship to are the hormone and puberty induced ones he had when he was seventeen. In his head, when things get rough you’re going to act like his psychotic high school girlfriend, and he’s going to treat you as such. Bottom line: if you’re his first real girlfriend, you’re going to have to teach him a lot, and most of that will be the difference between girls and women.
2. He doesn’t know how to communicate: Communication is key to any relationship. There are going to be confrontations, fights, and near-breakups, but how these are handled are what determines if the couple is going to make it or not. If your boy/man-child isn’t willing to listen to you, or he readily dismisses your feelings, he’s not mature enough to be with you in the long run.
3. He loves his pride more than the relationship: There is a certain amount of give and take in relationships. If your man loves being right more than he loves you, he’s no man at all—he’s just a stubborn boy. Everyone has to swallow their pride at some point, and boys aren’t willing to do this yet.
4. He doesn’t own his flaws: This one is about placing blame, and when something happens in a relationship it’s hardly ever just one person’s fault. If you’re willing to accept what you did wrong, and he isn’t, he essentially thinks he’s always right. Not only is that immature, it’s egotistical.
5. He doesn’t want to be depended on: When poo hits the fan, he’s nowhere to be seen. You might get some sympathy from him, but he puts minimal effort into being the person you can rely on. This is because immature boys retreat when things are too difficult for them. Simply put: men are strong, boys are weak.
6. You’re his girlfriend when it’s convenient for him: You had plans for a nice weekend together? Too bad something else came up and he bailed on you. Sometimes, nothing at all comes up, but he just can’t be bothered and would rather sleep in that day. Men are committed to a relationship and put you before themselves at least some of the time. Boys do whatever they want despite you.
7. He gets lazy: He stopped putting in effort months ago. You no longer get the cute texts you use to screen-shot. You have to fish for compliments because he doesn’t offer them up anymore. And “just-because” phone calls are so few and far-between you begin to doubt their existence all together.
8. He’s a hypocrite: Remember when he got mad at you because you texted him “K” that one time? Now he does it when he’s upset just to spite you. All those things you swore never to do again, and he can’t see the irony in the doing them exactly the same way.
9. He has no ambition: He’s unhappy with his present condition but won’t make any steps to fix it. I don’t think every man needs to know what he wants to be in life, but a lack of motivation in his personal life will definitely transfer over to your relationship.
10. Instead of breaking up with you, he’ll be a jerk until you break up with him: This is something only a spineless boy does. When the relationship reaches its expiration date, instead of being honest about it with you, he’d rather hang in there until you leave him. Thus, he doesn’t have to be the bad guy, and you’re the one stuck doing his dirty work.
There’s a reason girls tend to date older guys: they’re hoping to find someone who has grown out of these tendencies.

“A woman can also propose to a man” – Pastor Sam Adeyemi

rev-sam-adeyemi
The Leadership speaker and Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, while preaching on “Preparing for the wedding”, on Sunday March 16th, shared his opinion about women proposing to the man and also gave insight on how they can go about it. Below is what he said
“Some people may ask, Pastor is it okay for it to be the lady that will tell the guy about marriage? Well, is there anywhere in the bible that says a lady can’t tell a man? The thing though is, a lot of time, it’s better for the guy to pop the question because men become suspicious a lot of time when they are being chased. They like to eat meat that they chased in the bush. They don’t like the one that falls on their lap dead.

However., sometimes, all the signs are there that she is the one but he is not just speaking. Its also not healthy for the lady emotionally for the man to be so close to her and yet not say anything. So in such a case, a lady needs to prod him.
So how can a lady go about it? Ask him where are we going? I sense this is where the relationship is going, what do you think? Its either a yes or a no, but with that, you know where you are going instead of being on an emotional roller coaster and your heart is smashed into pieces at the end of the day”.
Pastor Sam supported his position with the story of Ruth in the Bible who was taught to propose to Boaz whom she eventually married according to Ruth Chapter 3  in the Bible. He however emphasized the need for women to apply uttermost wisdom when proposing to a man.
Do you agree with him?

[BREAKING] Its Confirmed! Malaysian Plane plunged into Southern Indian Ocean, says Malaysian PM

malaysian pm
The missing Malaysian airliner crashed into the Indian Ocean with all lives lost, the Malaysian prime minister said Monday.
At a sombre news conference, Najib Razak said, “With deep sadness and regret, I must inform you that, according to this new data, flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean.”
“I urge the media to respect their privacy and to allow them the space they need at this difficult time,” he said.
Malaysian Airlines in its own statement said, “We deeply regret that we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board have survived.
“We must now accept all evidence suggests the plane went down in the Southern Indian Ocean.”
That first definitive information about the whereabouts of the passenger jet that vanished 17 days ago is based on analysis from Inmarsat of satellite data, Razak said.
Razak spoke after being briefed by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, which produced new information with Inmarsat “using a type of analysis never before used in an investigation of this sort,” he said.
The investigation concluded that the Malaysian plane “flew along the southern corridor and that its last position was in the middle of the Indian Ocean, west of Perth,” he said.
“This is a remote location, far from any possible landing sites,” he said in explaining why there were no survivors.
“Malaysia Airlines have already spoken to the families of the passengers and crew,” said Razak. “For them, the past few weeks have been heartbreaking. I know this news must be harder still.”
Very sad news!

Confusion, panic as explosions rock Abuja shopping plaza

abuja_gas_explosion_2
Senator Bala Mohammed of the Federal Capital Territory cleared the air on yesterday’s explosions that occurred in one of the Abuja’s shops.
In an official statement, the Minister said it was not a bomb, but rather a gas explosion at a shop located at Shagari Plaza on Moshood Abiola Way, opposite the ever-busy Area 1 shopping Centre, Garki District, Abuja. The Minister urged the residents and visitors in the area to continue with their legitimate activities.
It would be recalled that a cooking gas retailer was refilling a gas cylinder for a customer when a series of explosions occurred at about 5 p.m. Customers and residents fled the area as they feared the explosions, which occurred in quick succession, were the work of Boko Haram and could be bomb blasts.
The retailer was reportedly injured while trying to drag the gas cylinder further from his shop, but it exploded in the process, causing burns up to his neck; the young man is now receiving medical treatment.
Other gas cylinders caught fire one after another and exploded as people watched from afar. Debris of cylinders flew and were scattered around the area.
Also, according to eyewitnesses, a seller of recharge cards escaped with a slight burn to the hand; he, however, lost his kiosk to the fire.
The men of the FCT Fire Service arrived promptly at the scene and put out the fire. Senator Mohammed advised members of the public to ignore the rumours of a bomb explosion in Abuja as baseless and false.
The FCT Command Public Relations Officer, Altine Daniel, said the situation is now calm in the area. He confirmed that the explosion was caused by a cooking gas and the heat, and two vehicles were damaged in the ensuing fire.
